Long ago, before I was born, Dad had a dog named Skipper. It was a crossroads - he told me - between a hound and a Cirneco, of medium size and slender build. He had a nice rust color, a chest and two runner careened from drooping ears, waving to every movement of the head and that during the race, flattened against the skull. But it was not his distinctive physical appearance, but the character: Skipper was a neurotic dog, able to speak - not just barking - with whom he knew to listen. Not obeyed and daddy never gets angry with him for this, because he understood that his was a kind of independent spirit, if not rebellious, and that therefore there was nothing to do. Dad - I confess - a little 'for the way he was admired and respected him as we respect all creatures free.
If there was anything he wanted, Skipper was screaming like a madman. If father rebuked him, he answered with a hit series of yelps. If Dad - at that point per game - added a few more words, Skipper was shown in a position to send it, with a single puff. In these discussions with his owner the dog would always have the last word. In addition, it was often spiteful, whining about nothing, angry with any other male dog and of course with all the cats imaginable. She was angry with scooters and priests and he was a racist who hated drug addicts and immigrants.
Dad could tell a thousand episodes where Skipper stood out for his talents, but what I want to talk about is an analogy between my way of screaming and that of his dog. And I want to tell you why I recently heard a daddy - literally - that "there is no point in shouting" and that "things can be asked calmly." Well - let me say - is not the same thing and it is not true that you get everything with kindness. E 'screaming in the strongest that I have satisfied the lungs that I come when I'm hungry, sleep when I want to be rocked when I'm hot when I hurt the stomach, when I soiled diaper, when I want to stay in her arms. Just like Skipper did that with a couple of barks was able to scare away dogs much older than him and that with some yelp could get everything he wanted from my father. And if he could ... he
